Greetings and Well Met!

I hope that, by this point, everyone reading this post has heard the big news officially announced today. The new Hearthstone Expansion will be called Whispers of the Old Gods and it will arrive, with Standard Format, at the end of April/beginning of May. The set will include 134 cards and will include a few new takes on old cards like [Loot Hoarder] and [Doomsayer], as well as, 16 new cards designed to have impact on the Old God, C’Thun. The card art is amazing and the example of C’Thun being played, and devastating the board, has a lot of us drooling. So here is the other information we learned about the expansion release:

– The streamers will get to reveal the cards.

– Everyone will get 3 free packs if you log in during the promotion period.

– Everyone logging in during the promotion period will get C’Thun for free.

– You can pre-order 50 packs for $50 starting Monday the 14th and you will get a free cardback.

Speaking of Monday, there are a few things that we will get with the patch we will get on Monday 3/14/16. The most exciting, for me at least, is that we will finally get the additional 9 deck slots that we have been screaming about for over a year. We will also get our first look at the new interface that will be used for the Wild/Standard format. I know that I will probably have the new slots filled up by the end of Monday, and I will be content with finally being able to field “Daily Decks” and still keep my ladder decks without a bunch of swapping about classes and cards.

I know it will be hard to wait for the new expansion, but I am glad that Blizzard is taking the opportunity to build excitement for the new format and expansion, while still giving Naxx and GvG players another month to take a final shot at laddering up before the split. You can find all the information about the announcement today at

and you can be part of the effort to reveal more about the expansion starting on March 21st at

I hope you are as excited as we are about the new expansion (and deck slots) and we look forward to theory crafting the new set with you over the coming weeks.
